Selection of our dogs
Before our dogs are used for breeding, they undergo thorough health and genetic testing. According to WALA, all breeding dogs must have a DNA profile and pass hip and elbow clearances. These tests ensure that breeding is done responsibly and help maintain genetic diversity in the breed.
We also test for hereditary diseases such as PRA, EIC, DM, and Von Willebrand disease. Carrier dogs can be paired with clear partners, preventing affected puppies and promoting healthier litters.
Our DNA tests are performed with Embark, providing detailed information about each dog’s genetic status and allowing us to make well-informed breeding decisions. For our own bred dogs, we also use SKK or Pennhip to assess hip health accurately and reliably. With these comprehensive tests, we ensure that our dogs are healthy, minimize the risk of hereditary diseases, and conduct each pairing responsibly.
